Little Rippers Buyer Protection
Buying secondhand gear from another family should feel just as easy as buying new — that's the whole idea behind Buyer Protection. It's not an add-on and there's nothing to sign up for. Every order placed through Little Rippers checkout is covered automatically.
The short version
When you buy on Little Rippers, your payment doesn't go straight to the seller. It's held securely until you've had a real chance to check the gear over. If it's right, the seller gets paid. If it's not — wrong item, damaged in a way that wasn't disclosed, or it never shows up — Little Rippers steps in and makes the call. You're never stuck negotiating a refund on your own, and a seller can't just keep your money and go quiet.
What's covered
- It never arrives. Tracking goes dead, or the order just never shows up.
- It's not what the listing said. Wrong size, wrong item, or materially different condition than the photos and description led you to expect.
- Undisclosed damage. Damage that wasn't shown in photos or mentioned in the listing.
What's not covered
- It doesn't fit. If the gear matches the size and measurements in the listing but doesn't fit your kid, that's not a Buyer Protection case — sizing is on you to check before you buy, using the listing details (and our sizing guides) rather than guesswork.
- Change of mind. If the gear matches the listing but it's just not what you expected or wanted, that's not covered either.
- Wear and tear the listing already disclosed. A used bike with the scuffs the seller described isn't "damaged" — that's what buying secondhand means.
- Anything arranged off Little Rippers. Buyer Protection only covers orders placed and paid for through Little Rippers checkout. A deal made over text, cash in person, or outside the platform isn't something we can see or step into.
- Orders you've already accepted, or that passed the review window. Once you tap Accept Order & Release Payment, or the window closes, the sale is final.
How it works
- The seller ships, and payment is held. Nothing releases to the seller yet.
- You get 14 days to check the gear over — not just glance at the box. Check it against the listing's photos and description.
- Tell us what happened. If it's right, tap Accept Order & Release Payment (or just let the 14 days run out — that also means "looks good"). If something's actually wrong, message the seller first if you can, and open a dispute if that doesn't sort it out.
- Little Rippers reviews it and decides. We look at the listing, the messages, and whatever either side shares, then either release payment to the seller or refund you. Neither of you has to resolve it alone, and neither one can unilaterally cancel or refund — that call sits with us specifically, so it's fair rather than whoever argues harder.

What this means for sellers
Buyer Protection isn't just a buyer perk — it protects sellers too. A dispute doesn't mean an automatic refund; it means Little Rippers looks at the actual evidence before deciding anything, so a buyer can't just claim a problem and walk off with both the gear and their money back. The best protection against a dispute in the first place is the same thing that makes a listing sell faster: accurate photos and an honest, specific description of condition.
A note on safety-critical gear
Buyer Protection covers whether an order matches what was listed — it isn't a safety inspection or certification, and Little Rippers doesn't inspect or certify gear before it ships. For anything safety-critical (helmets, bike brakes, ski bindings, climbing harnesses and similar), give it a real look before your kid uses it: check it against manufacturer guidance, look up the model on cpsc.gov/recalls, and when in doubt, have it checked by someone qualified before it hits the trail, park, or field.
The bottom line
Payment held, a real window to check things over, and a fair, third-party call if something goes sideways — so you can spend less time worrying about the deal and more time getting your little ripper back outside.
